Editorial

Welcome to the autumn 2009 edition of Geomantica.

We have been blessed by a little rain here in the drought and bushfire stricken state of Victoria this autumn, after most of summer with none and high heat and evaporation rates. Still the garden prospers and most plants survive, thanks to careful species selection, soil preparation, some hand watering and devic protection.

Soon it will be time for Peter and myself to migrate north to the greener shores of Ireland, where we will be busy promoting permaculture gardening and geomancy, and healthy, sustainable homes and lifestyles. And I think it's time to produce a book on how to begin an esoteric approach to permaculture design...

Here in the latest Geomantica are some great contributed articles and I am most grateful to the authors for them. I havent had time to write much myself, too busy planting trees! However if you look at www.permacultureireland.ie you'll see a second issue of the new 'Living Lightly' magazine that I've put together, with some practical articles in there and a swag of archived stories of my visits to permaculture farms from around ten years ago.

Happy reading!

Until October,

Peace and bright blessings

Observations on Magnetic Susceptibility in Cows and Deer

Recent observations by German biologists using satellite and aerial images have not only revealed that cows prefer to face north-south (excluding factors of winds or rain affecting them), as reported in Geomantica #40; now they have established that if the cows are near large power lines their magnetic orienting becomes disoriented. However if the power lines are running in an east-west direction they will tend to line up in that direction. With no power lines present two thirds of the cows and deer that were checked out align to north-south, on average.

BACK to the GODDESS

- a geomantic quest in Greece

by Bogdan Nowakowski

I. Itinerary

It was always my cherished dream to follow Greek heroes on their wanderings. Starting my quest at the place sacred to Artemis Agrotera (http://www.artemisagrotera.org/en/history.asp) was an obvious choice. At this sanctuary Herakles acquired initiation that launched him on his way towards spiritual perfection. When contemplating the ruins, a startling question came to my mind - " So what is She doing now, dispossessed and all alone!?" As if only waiting for my attention, a meek despairing voice addressed me - "Help, please; could you help me!?" I was overwhelmed with shame and deep sorrow at not being able to do anything to assist Her. Well; foreigners coming to Attica after Herakles, were being initiated into Lesser Mysteries here, before they could partake in the Great Mysteries of Eleusis. Perhaps even these days, it would be most reasonable to let Her continue with what She was the best at, in old times!?

Fig. 1 - Olympieion.

With the help of Pausanias` "Guide to Greece", I managed to locate Gaia`s Gap at the nearby Olympieion. Athenians
believed Deukalion`s Flood had been drained away through it. Results of my investigation are contained in Chapter II, below. Next, I ventured to follow the yin-path, which was heading towards cave sanctuaries at the northern slope of Akropolis. Taking a rest in its shadow, I began to ponder. Pan and his Nymphs were natural cave dwellers. Eros and Aphrodite maybe looked there for a quantum of intimacy - see photo, below. But what Zeus and Apollo were doing in those caves; did Athenians mark their original status as Gaia`s progeny this way!? Still wondering, I rushed up the stairs of Propylaia to meet Erechtheus - the spirit of the primaeval King of Athens, snaky son of Athene. In old days, the plateau of Akropolis was off-limits for profane visitors. Heroic-Age Kings were living there at a Myceanean palace, together with their Divine Mother. Karyatids of Erechtheion - looking out over Athens, seemed to be gracious guardians of its sacred space. But it was Athene, actually, who was accompanying me, when I walked down the stairs to stroll Her town. And She rectified my ways lovingly.

Arriving at the Temple of Kore and Demeter in Eleusis, I just went in heading for the Ploutonion, where final tuning of the applicants used to take place. Aura of Ploutos the Child enveloped me and we stayed in a close union together, for quite a long time. Then; full of reverence, I began to look for the Holy of Holies. But at its place I found only a deep hole, excavated down to the mother-rock. Disappointed and full of remorse, I rounded it anticlockwise a few times and then something unexpected happened. First, it was like I were falling into a Gap between Worlds. But suddenly, a huge Wave thrusted up from underneath, took me into space and then gently put me down before the Queen. All that was quite unexpected. For some mysterious reason a potent resonance arose, completely outside my control but at my cheerful acceptance, and that was all. The Queen in Her generosity didn`t questioned my meagre preparations. "Long time no see" - those words She did whispered with a smile, as if deep inside me. Then She touched my hand and we rushed through the ages and then She`s gone; so soon!? I was left alone at the verge of golden fragrant fields, in a calm and quiet enchantment - like that of a child listening to a slowly vanishing skylark song.

Fig.7 - Meeting the Queen

It seemed that Delphian Pronoia (Athene Pronaia) was welcoming my curiosity, when I walked around Her place. Rectangular old temple had been built upon a tight plaitwork of broad yin life-energy paths. I was nearly sure that originally it was off-limits for males. Around the neighbouring Tholos, radial paths were alternately of Mother (yin)
and Child (lower tao) quality. To tune in, I circled the Tholos anticlockwise, round and round again, over quite a long time. Early next morning, I started my climb to the Korykian Cave. Each year, the dancing Thyiads used to climb up to the Cave under a trance, in order to bring the new-born Dionysos down to the Human World. The Greek name for the town (and maybe for this whole countryside) - Delphoi, simply means "Wombs". First further up, when crossing areas covered with a multitude of symbolic womb constructions - located within yin-nodes, the immediate meaning behind that name became clear to me. And at the end of the track, the Womb of the Wombs, belonging to Delphyne - the Mother of snaky Dionizos, was still waiting for me.

Fig.8 - Tholos of Pronoia, Delphi

Fig.9 - Korykian Cave

The operational mode of the Delphian Oracle was surely worth studying. Well; there`s this elusive Stream of Kassotis, which flowed under the Temple to the underground chamber (see photo), where Pythia - the prophetess could drink from its waters. Later on, a foundation damage occurred and the stream had to be led down through pipes. Staying within this very chamber, while drinking from Kassotis - either flowing free or in pipes, was obviously essential for the functioning of the Oracle. When studying the place more closely, I found very strong and large yin-node there. Most impressive were its broad curvilinear folds, embracing the whole precinct of Gaia and wide areas around. First then, with astonishment I came to the insight that the prime force behind the Oracle was always Delphyne of the Mighty Arms - the local Ruleress. Possession by Her was probably the source of Pythia`s strange menadic behaviour and emotional utterances. Priests of Apollo were construing answers to received questions, studying oral and bodily manifestations of Pythia`s spiritual trance.

II. A Case Study - Gaia and Her company, at the Olympieion of Athens

Pausanias in his "Guide to Greece" (Book I - Attica (18.7;8) says - "(In this enclosure are) temple of Kronos and Rhea and some ground sacred to Olympian Earth. The ground here has split open about two feet; they say this is where the water run away after Deukalion`s Flood. Once a year they throw in cakes of wheaten meal kneaded with honey.. They say that Deukalion built the ancient sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, and for proof that he lived in Athens they point to a tumulus not far away from the modern temple." That`s all from Pausanias. It`s clear, that for him Deukalion was a human being - an ancient king, legendary ancestor of the whole Greek race. From other sources comes out, though, that Deukalion and Pyrrha were originally Immortal Titans. They could have been the progeny of Rhea - ancient Mother of Gods, described as Pronoia - The Providing One and Pandora - The All-Bestowing One. Fathers were Titans called Forethought (Prometheus) and Afterthought (Epimetheus), respectively. Were they merely modes of the Primaeval Mind, personified here by Kronos!? Now; the name Pyrrha could denote Scorched Earth and Deukalion had been proposed to be originally Deus Halieus - God from Salty Waters. All those allegoric meanings seem to allude to the Flood of Death (kenosis; life-energy depletion), under which Deukalion and Pyrrha are sailing in their larnax (ceramic coffin), up to high mountains. But the Flood of Life (plerosis) shall follow. Originally, the pair of Titans was probably believed to return each year, spreading seeds ("bones of Earth") of new life around them.

Now we are going territorial. In the diagram below, yang-path (Zeus; blue), penetrating Gaia`s Gap, has stirred up the flood of Water of Life. An egg-like yin-sphere (red), entrusted probably to Rhea, - has been formed, with a kind of a "bridal chamber" at its southern end. From there, fresh life-energy (lower tao) orbs flow out in a continuous stream. The effeminate Dionysos used to be in care of the latter. But here, local legend still preserved his precursor Deukalion (in unity with Pyrrha, as it seems) in a role of a supervisor. Orbs seem to be drawn to the rounded two-pole field, where I guess the tumulus was placed. This field distributes orbs into channels of the rectilinear local life-energy net, shown around. That`s it as for Gaia`s point of view on what`s going on around here, this time of year.

III. Summary
Once triumphant patriarchal gods lost their share in Nature long ago, when first becoming copies of human tyrants
full of hubris and then retiring into distant skies. It`s with the help of female divinities at their sacred groves, springs, and caves, that human beings can still tune up to the local spiritual commonwealth. The Case Study exemplified a variety of geomantic life-energy flow analysis at a natural sanctuary. In my view; well-being of neighbouring modern communities could be enhanced with skilful preservation and management of such places. Among other traditions, Greek ancient experience can also lead us towards such improvements.

Golan Heights

by Miroslav Provod

Golan Heights that spread over 1250 square kilometers are an important spring region that supplies 4 states with water. The great presence of static electricity in this region can be deduced from the high number of megalithic structures. A local circular structure of diameter of 159 meters is composed of five concentric circles that are laid out by freely laying stones that all weigh 37 000 tons in total. The heaviest single stones that were used weight about 20 tons. Around this structure there is further 8 500 dolmens and menhirs, the heaviest weighing 50 tons and they are up to 7 meters in height.

Golan Heights may be thought of as a natural laboratory, which can provide us with historical information, in view of research. The static electricity that is almost unknown to present science was crucial for all megalithic structures that were built around the Earth. The new knowledge about properties of static electricity that I describe at http://www.miroslavprovod.com <http://www.miroslavprovod.com/> provides more in depth information via continuing research about the mysteries of construction of megalithic structures with combination of different types of rocks, for example Stonehenge, Machu Picchu and many others.

The megalithic structures had all the same function. They accumulated static electricity in their matter, which they gained from various sources. At Golan Heights the sources are mainly underground springs, which provide the megaliths with the static electricity charge.

The "electronics of human body" takes the static electricity from cellular membranes in order to maintain functionality of all organs. The static electricity is continuously supplied by mitochondria. It can be proved by various experiments that the charge of human body can be filled by other means as well by staying close to greater source of static electricity, which spontaneously gives the energy to cellular membranes. The transfer of energy is rather slow. In case of transfer between a rock and a human body it takes tens of minutes. This shows that the megalithic structures and later also sacral structures were built mainly for health purposes.

Golan Heights are a great hint, which needs greater research to be done. By this I mean gathering of statistical data about all the megaliths in this region, mainly from which types of rocks the individual dolmens were built and their chemical composition. The great ratio of dolmens to the population hints that the reason for building them wasn't only filling the bodily energy. It may be deduced from the combination of rocks at many of the structures that it mattered through which part of the rock the static electricity went. It's probable that it was influenced by chemical properties of the rock, which it transferred to the cellular membranes of human body. If the combination of different types of rocks is proved by the dolmens it would logically point out that the reason for building them was curing of various bodily anomalies.

Big groups of megaliths aren't only at Golan Heights but at various places around the Earth. Further statistical data from other regions would make more believable knowledge not only about history but also about static electricity. From the economic point of view the "re-discovered" energy may bring great motivation to people in many fields.

Static electricity versus Ether

by Miroslav Provod

It was Aristotle who coined the word ether and was the first one to familiarize the world with it. However, the megalithic structures, whose essence is the 3 dimensional energetic raster ether, show that even much older cultures knew the properties of static electricity. Albert Einstein said that ether is "dead" probably because he didn't need this idea for his work. Ether is not dead. Conversely, it's made of energetic parts of great amount of charges of static electricity the zones and interzones, which greatly affect life on the Earth.

The charge of static electricity comprises of three energetic components aura, zones and interzones. Ether is made of two energetic components zones and interzones.

The charge of static electricity = aura + zones + interzones

Ether = zones + interzones

There would not be a logical explanation for the construction of megalithic structures if their constructors did not know other properties of static electricity that two or more charges join when their auras connect and form one mutual charge and then their potentials slowly equalize. Also, the construction of megaliths in great distances from their energetic sources hints that their constructors knew the conductivity of zones and knew the way in which they could be identified. The spontaneous transfer of energy from greater charge to a smaller charge by the means of ether was the reason for the construction of megalithic structures.

These characteristics of static electricity present only part of its properties, which could easily be proved by experiments. Other attributes that are evident from the manipulation of rocks remain hidden. I mean the combinations of rocks with respect to their chemical composition and the greatest mystery of ancient cultures the construction of Logan stones. The increase of energy in a rock during even a small move can be proved by an easy experiment. This was the main reason for building hundreds of thousands of Logan stones around the Earth. We would probably have to wait for the explanation of this phenomenon until physics reaches the level of our past predecessors. Maybe the explanation is hidden in the yet unknown property of static electricity in the same way as the explanation of ball lightning and the trajectories on which it moves. I was unsuccessful in my trial that lasted a few days in making a raw 20Kg rock into a Logan stone. I can't understand how people in the old ages could do this with rocks weighing tens of tons. There are many other mysteries hidden in the megalithic age and I think that the time to explore these more seriously has come.

We can't be surprised that since the ancient times ether has been used by all civilizations only for cultic purposes and it has been marginalized for other purposes. It could also be understood in a way that spiritual leaders used this force of nature, because it was easy to manipulate people with it. It's not necessary to write more about this as it's generally known that it went through the history in many different forms and it reliably works even today.

Menhirs were replaced by obelisks and towers. Dolmens were replaced by chapels, rotundas, mounds and other smaller structures that are placed around the world. The circular megalithic structures for more people were replaced by greater sacred buildings of all types. I have stated on my web pages the proper energetic locations for construction of such structures. It's easy to believe that the constructors of these megalithic and sacred structures respected these locations. I think that we can't criticize the spiritual leaders of ancient history and medieval times. Good leadership can only be beneficial to the people but it could also be easily misused.

Everything was however changed at the time when the greatest force of nature static electricity has been negatively affected by humans by creating great civilization charges. These are mainly power stations, electric mains, cities, dams on rivers, etc. The ether that had been greatly balanced by nature has been chaotically disturbed by humans. This imbalance of static electricity could be the cause of natural anomalies that are attributed to other factors. Some empirical experiments show the negative effects of ether on organisms and it can't be excluded that this has been caused by apposition of natural ether by civilization charges. The newly re-revealed static electricity makes new space for research in many directions.

Nikola Tesla wrote: "The day when science starts to explore nonphysical phenomenona will it advance more in a decade then it has advanced over whole centuries of its present existence."

I have been dealing with nonphysical phenomena for 45 years and can only confirm the statement of Nikola Tesla. However, making new space for further research will be very difficult. Firstly, it is necessary to construct a measuring device of the energetic components of static electricity ether. The article "Dowsing versus aura" shows the properties of static electricity that may give a hint when choosing the sensor. I have been trying this for years but have concluded that only specialists in equipped laboratories can be successful. I would be happy to hand over to them my "baton".

Book Review

Alanna Moore reviews:

'Meeting the Other Crowd the fairy stories of hidden Ireland'

by Eddie Lenihan and Caroline Eve Green, Gill and MacMillan, Ireland, 2003.

This is a delightful book, which, despite its name's inferences, is intended for adult consumption. The term 'fairy story' has come to mean something made up, fanciful. However in this book there are real stories from local characters that story teller Lenihan has known, who describe real encounters with the fairy folk of Ireland. In these stories are amazing insights into the nature of the spiritual beings such as fairies and serpents; and the legacy of sacred trees and landscape features that are still held in reverence in the minds' of today's Irish people (the elders at least).

One story I found most interesting was of Lenihan's own experience of sacred landscape, under the onslaught of the modern world. I had previously heard a little about this incident in the media and had always wanted to know the full story. So here is the tale, in a nutshell.

Lenihan has been collecting folk tales for some 30 years. In 1988 he had been told by an old man (now deceased) of a lone white thorn bush (a.k.a. hawthorn), traditionally kniown as a sceach, in a field near Latoon, County Clare. The man told him that the fairies of Munster would gather around it on their frequent journeys northwards to fight the fairies of Connaught. (Irish fairies being not necessarily all full of sweetness and light.) On their journey home they would gather around this fairy tree to assess their losses and to wait for any stragglers, before traveling back across the River Shannon and dispersing to their homes. On several occasions the old man had seen lumps of greenish substance with the 'constituency of liver' in the field around the tree. He said that he knew this to be fairy blood and that it indicated that a battle has taken place the night before.

Lenihan had forgotten all about this story, until in 1999, when he was surprised to see earthworks for a new road to Ennis in the vicinity of the fairy tree, including an overpass destined to be built across the fairy tree field. He questioned the engineers if they realised this fact, but they did not care a hoot, even though he warned them that if the tree was destroyed the fairies would be out for revenge and there would probably be accidents, injuries and maybe even death there.

Lenihan then wrote a letter of protest to the local paper and this led to an interview on the local radio station. This in turn was picked up by national radio in a report that was then picked up by the New York Times and eventually over 40 newspapers in the US, UK and Europe plus at least a dozen TV stations in the US, Canada and Europe, who all covered the story.

As a result Clare County Council and the National Roads Authority agreed to vary the route of the road slightly, thus sparing the now-famous fairy tree. 'It was a civilized decision,' he wrote, 'one that illustrates clearly that fairy belief, in spite of all vicissitudes, still has power to influence decisions even at a high official level and where much money is concerned. ...(It) was a graphic reminder of the power of these older beliefs to reassert themselves given the assistance, even briefly, of the media.'

(In total contrast, despite the presence of a plethora of hidden important Bronze Age monuments in its path and it's close proximity to the famed Hill of Tara, the M3 motorway is currently being rolled out to Navan and no amount of protests has been able to stop it. Profits rule in 21st century Ireland.)

Unfortunately the publicity about the Latoon sceach was a double edged sword. The tree made news again when someone unknown gave it a severe pruning by chainsaw in August 2002.

I enjoyed this book immensely and recommend it for a taste of the old Ireland, its stories beautifully retold and highly entertaining.

Book Review:

'Geomantic Guidebook to Water Spirits of the World, from Nymphs to Nixies, Serpents to Sirens'

In this book Alanna Moore gives the reader a comprehensive collection of information and a rich insight into the world of water spirits and their manifestations and descriptions in the folklore, myths and legends of cultures around the world.  Serpents, dragons, water goddesses and wells, sun gods and hot springs and water beasties around the world are all included as well as pilgrimages and the place of water in religion.

In our current era we are realising that we cannot take water for granted as we often did only a few years ago. Water is rapidly becoming a political and economic issue all around our planet and we seem to be willing to pay more for our bottled water than we pay for petrol. If we learn to reconnect with water spirits we may be able to help to enhance this valuable resource.

The magical beings that operate in different dimensions were understood and honoured in other eras and learning more about their history in different cultures is a good way for us to learn to reconnect and work with these beings. Included in the book are some wonderful stories of encounters with water spirits in our own time and some insights into dowsing with those spirits to learn from them.

This well researched and informative book is a great resource to help us to better understand and work with the devic world.

A Thirst for Ireland  [ State of Pilgrimage series] 27 minutes

This video mostly filmed in Ireland covers Alanna Moore's visits to many of the ancient stone circle sites and stone mounds on hills that seem to abound there   The camerawork is again  good and  the sites are beautiful especially when the camcorder rests on  shimmering  water reflecting colours around it which creates a real atmosphere of 'little people' and Irish  mysticism which was quite a bewitching  apart from educating us about  a type of ancient  site I had not seen before. You can order these cheaply from Alanna's site geomantica.com

Saving Tara   {State of Pilgrimage series]  18 minutes

This is another in Alanna Moore's important and fascinating series.   It mostly depicts a  protest  held at the edge of  a site being cleared for what looks like a wide highway  through an important Irish site called Tara.  The passionate angry singing of her protest  song by a young warrior goddess figure [whose profile would look at home on a coin] will  remain in your memory  She sings it up close like a wounded animal  to a trio of  police  people  who are of course as powerless as anyone else seems to be to stop the huge machines destroying  heritage. Also lingering in the memory is the chief druid  passionately explaining  the  acceptance  of this destruction  in the context of a version of  New World Order conspiracy theory which  you may or may not embrace [I tend to keep an open mind as the odds stack up sadly in some of the conspiracy theory's favour] Good camerawork is also a mark of this video.

pandya@streamyx.com

* 24th - 28th April

Taipei, Taiwan

Workshops hosted by Lapis Lazuli Publishers:

* Alanna Moore will explain how to design a piece of land to create edible landscapes
and work with the subtle energies found there, for harmonious living.

She will explain the principles of permaculture design, for creating lush, fertile and productive environments,
and which she approaches from a sensitive, geomantic perspective.
This includes Keyline design - a means of harvesting rainwater in the ground using appropriate earthworks.
(Both Permaculture design and Keyline were developed in Australia over the last 30 + 50 years.
They are Australia's most sustainable exports!)

She will give an outline of planting in relation to moon phases and planetary influences, as is practised in biodynamic agriculture.

She will demonstrate how to discover and assess the subtle energy factors in landscapes, the geomancy of places,
including power centres, energy lines, sacred sites etc, using pendulum techniques of the ancient art of dowsing.

Another important aspect of landscape energies are the local nature spirits and Alanna will explain how to find their locations and also how to start to communicate with them. Their co-operation can be a key to successful living, farming and gardening.

In order to cultivate sensitivity of subtle energies, techniques of meditation will also be imparted.

On the home front - Alanna will describe how to find and deal with any potentially hazardous geopathic zones in the home, where they can cause disease and other problems. Earth acupuncture will be explained, as an easy method to remove this problem, as well as other techniques.

As a giant form of Earth acupuncture, the Towers of Power that Alanna specialises in will also be explained.
These were originally developed in the USA as a means of boosting plant growth by enhancing the Earth's magnetic field.
Alanna has found that they have all sorts of other effects, including energising and harmonising environmental subtle energies.
Tower energies and how to enhance them with our intentions will be demonstrated.
The techniques of building them will be explained and some of their effects described.

* Peter Cowman will also be explaining the benefits of 'living architecture'

at separate workshops and seminars during this week.

the decorated sacred wells and springs will be dowsed not only for their energetic
vitality but also for the water spirits residing in them. The group will practise
techniques for communicating with the devas and ritual for harmonising their
energies, as required.
Dowsing will thus be used as a means of 'lifting the veils' to the other
dimensions of nature, the result of which can be extremely exhilarating!

A beautiful time of year to visit the Malvern Hills.

journal of the British Society of Dowsers, whose head office is also in Malven.
