Editorial

Welcome to the summer issue of Geomantica 2004. Globally - it's a bleak world out there with warmongers excercising carte blanche in other peoples' countries; polar bears running out of ice to hunt from in the Arctic; and the hard, long continuing drought here in most of Australia rolls on.

Readers may really need to exercise some rain making ritual this summer. The last one that I did, at the end of August last, was followied by the first month of above average rainfall (only in central Victoria) in a long time. My new dam was filled in a fortnight! Recently, in Brisbane, we connected with a powerful water spirit at the edge of the CBD, at my Deva Dowsing workshop, that was organised by the Theosophical Society.

This was on Saturday September 30th. The Sunshine Coast had been shrouded in smoke from weeks of bushfires in this dry time of year, when I had arrived. The week following our workshop saw sudden torrential rain in the south east corner of Queensland corner, with flash floods in Brisbane! (Traditionally people have gone to water spirit centres to ask for rain. We didn't ask specifically for rain, though.)

Meanwhile, you can forget about the doom and gloom because there's plenty to inspire you in this issue of Geomantica. It a great edition, thanks to the help of Susan Wilson, who has been a guest editor and helped out from woe to go / upload. Many thanks go to her, and, of course, all the other wonderful contributors.

Until next quarter -

Peace and bright blessings

from your editor - Alanna Moore

Letter to the Editor

Dear Alanna

We feel New Zealand would greatly benefit from Agnihotra and we may be able to go there for a workshop tour in the latter 2 weeks of January.

Do you know of any individuals, groups, centres etc in the Nth or Sth island that might be interested whom we could contact?

WHAT IS AGNIHOTRA?

AGNIHOTRA is an AYURVEDIC healing Fire [Homa] that not only heals the person bringing peace to the Heart and mind but also heals the environment. A simple practice, AGNIHOTRA involves the burning in an inverted copper pyramid , specific healing substances , accompanied by Sanskrit mantras at sunrise and sunset. Regular performances purify the mind, enabling real inner growth while at the same time entire environments are being purified, nourished and rejuvenated.

The flame of Agnihotra can purify the environment, nourish nature with life force, neutralize negativity, enhance meditation and healing and is an aid to farming.

FREE WORKSHOPS by Lee & Frits Ringma from Australia will be conducted in the Nth. Island of New Zealand, during which we will experience the healing energy of the Fire first hand and there will also be opportunity to experience other sacred Ayurvedic tools such as Lingams and Yantras.
Agnihotra kits and other Ayurvedic healing tools will be available at the workshops

Lee and Frits Ringma.

New Film from Geomantica Productions!

'Grassroots Solutions to Soil Salinity'

by Alanna Moore, Nov 2004, 38 minutes.

Ever wondered why salt and acidicty are the new 'plagues' of agriculture? Could it be something to do with current farming practises? How can we really lick the problem?

This new film by Alanna Moore looks at how farmers in Australia are successfully tackling these problems, despite government agriculture scientists telling us that their methods "can't work".

We get to see two farms that have been saved from salting, by installing water interceptor banks and by also planting trees on the banks. We see how dowsing has been applied to this practical system of Earth care, as Laurie Adamsom demonstrates.

Then we get to meet a scientist who has proved, with his own technological breakthrough, that the theory of rising water table as a cause of land salting, is generally not the cause of it at all. Australia needs a radical overhaul of farming methods to create a sustainable agriculture - as the ultimate solution.

This film is part three of the Earth Care, Earth Repair series.

To obtain a copy in VHS in Australia send $25, for a DVD sent to you - $20.

Saving Lalgambook - Update

by Alanna Moore

Continuing the saga from last Geomantica 25

The proposal by Telstra to place a 34m high mobile phone tower base station on the summit of sacred mountain Lalgambook/Mt Franklin, in central Victoria, caused great consternation amongst locals who rallied to oppose it. Letters of objection were sent to many relevant parties, a petition and photos simulating the visual impact was circulated, and the authorities lobbied. A potential protest camp was set up in the crater in readiness. Finally, at the 20th July council meeting, at 5 minutes to midnight, Hepburn Shire decided that they too would reject the proposal.

The 'Friends of Mt Franklin' were tired but elated. But it wasn't the end. It had been discovered that Optus had already quietly erected a so called 'low impact' tower on the summit. Surely this was inappropriate too? (Vodaphone is keen to put a tower up there as well.)

The Refusal to Grant a Planning Permit sent out by Larry Waldron, the Hepburn Shire planner gave the following reasons for refusal given by the Planning Department:
1. The proposal is inconsistent with the provisions of the State Planning Policy Framework of the Hepburn Planning Scheme, in particular Heritage.
2. The proposal is inconsistent with the provisions of the Local Planning Policy Framework of the Hepburn Planning Scheme, in particular Environment and Heritage ( Landscapes, Cultural Heritage ).
3. The proposal is detrimental to the amenity of the area.
4. The proposal is inconsistent with the Code of Practice for Telecommunications Facilities in Victoria.
5. That the traditional owners of the land and the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-operative have not given their formal consent.

Council had not been opposed to the plan up until this time, but the 'Friends of Mt Franklin' had been intensively lobbying.

Telstra's required consultation with Aboriginal people was minimal and some say that they may have been talking to the wrong people. Nothing has come from it.

Ken Mansell wrote to the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs in Victoria to say "I am an objector to the Telstra proposal to erect a mobile phone tower on Mt Franklin...My strongest objection to the tower is that Mount Franklin is an Aboriginal sacred site."

He informed the Minister that "In 1997-1998 Optus attempted to erect a mobile phone tower on Mannings Track, a high ridge three kilometers to the south of Mount Franklin. Over 600 local people signed a petition against it, but in the end the plan was stopped by the action of the Mirimbiak Nation's Aboriginal Corporation. This Corporation had lodged a native title determination application with the National Native Title Tribunal on behalf of the Dja Dja Wrung".

"Mount Franklin is even more worthy of saving, more sacred, than Mannings Ridge. It is within the area covered by the Dja Dja Wurrung native title claim"

Unfortunately there was a surprising lack of interest from the Minister, who replied that "the location has been surveyed for Aboriginal cultural heritage values, by a representative of the Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative, which holds the decision-making responsibilities for the area, and he has been advised that no Aboriginal heritage sites or places were found during that investigation, and it appears unlikely that the proposed tower would have a detrimental effect on any specific Aboriginal cultural heritage values."

And yet this same Aboriginal Cooperative still has not formally refused permission for a phone tower. They have apparently remained silent, so far, and consultation has not apparently not been with the appropriate parties responsible for the Lalgambook area..

The Co-op may yet refuse permission.

Telstra has appealed.

The VCAT case is scheduled for December 10th. Hepburn Shire Council are hiring a legal representative to help them (after some pressure from the Friends group).

I am one of the opponents booked in speak at the Tribunal and I will be giving my geomantic reasons for opposing the tower.

If anyone wants to offer help of any kind, please drop us an email to Geomantica.

Geopathic Stress and Children

We know that many behavioural and learning problems experienced by children can be the result of exposure to geopathic stress, thanks to the work of Kathe Bachler in Austria.

A school teacher in Austria for 30 years, the Pedagogical Institute in Saltzburg gave Bachler her unusual assignment: to research into the connections between geopathic zones of disturbances and the academic failure in school children.

Bachler lists 10 indicators of sleeping in a geopathic zone:
1) Not wanting to go to bed.
2) Insomnia.
3) Restlessness and nightmares.
4) Avoidance of certain parts of the bed.
5) Sleepwalking.
6) Feeling cold.
7) Tired and not refreshed by sleep.
8) Vomiting or depressed appetite in the morning.
9) Feeling down, despondent, nervous, tearful on waking.
10) Cramps and increased heart rate in bed.

As for school children affected by geopathic stress, she says these are often the slow learning kids, who may be lazy, forgetful, restless, moody, bed wetting, hostile, aggressive, or antisocial and constantly missing school from ill health. They may have to repeat a grade.

When their desk is affected by a stress zone they may be incapable of doing homework there. If it's at their school desk they will hate going to school, and may get stomach aches, fainting and vomiting, and will often be staring out the window.

Bachler found that 95% of failed examinations were due to the presence of zones of disturbance. When the geopathic stress is in a classroom a 'rotating classroom' can be adopted - where seating positions are changed regularly.

After beds in geopathic stress zones are moved children often have an instant improvement in sleep and appetite and have increased health and wellbeing, better attention spans and interest in learning, improved thinking and memory and ultimately improved school performance generally, she finds.

Geomantica Free Offer
If you think that your children may be affected by geopathic stress at school, then Geomantica is now offering a free map dowsing service to have it checked out.

Solutions to Soil Salinity

The ABC TV news item of 28/9/04 sounded full of hope. A 'new' plant discovery, that will help where soil salinity is a problem. Hairy Canary, a north African clover can handle tropical, salty and drought conditions. Whacko! But then we were told it wouldn't be available for 5 years or so. So it wasn't really news at all. But I suppose those clever scientists must make out that they are doing something, to justify their meal ticket. (They'd probably prefer if the problem wasn't solved at all, because their jobs might then be at stake.)

And what of soil acidity? In the florid journalese of the Weekly Times Nov 3rd 2004 we read of "another weapon for crop farmers in their battle against soil acidity". CSIRO and Japanese scientists, we are told, are breeding for aluminium friendly wheat. Aluminium, the journo tells us, "occurs naturally in acidic soils and inhibits root growth in sensitive plants."

"Acid soils are estimated to cost farmers up to $1 billion a year and is generally regarded as a bigger problem than salinity and erosion."

"The new wheat gene enables roots to emit a substance called malate which converts aluminium in the soil into a non-toxic form and protects roots from being damaged."

" By combining liming with acid-tolerant crops and pastures, nutrient leaching can be reduced and managed."

As for using lime -the production of it generates a lot of greenhouse gases. There are better alternatives which don't fuel the problem. On the SBS TV news of 9/11/04 I learned that the threat of global warming is melting the Arctic ice twice as fast as predicted, so we must change our ways!

Co-team leader Dr Manny Delhaize has been working on aspects of the project for 15 years.

Are we supposed to be impressed?

This is the sort of cynical exercise that we, as tax payers are funding! Why are these CSIRO servants of the public not asking the obvious questions WHY is acidity and salinity occurring, how can it be PREVENTED??

Does the environment have to put up with the constant onslaught of farm chemicals including that arch enemy of the soil and creator of acidity super phosphate?

Do humans have to be used as guinea pigs again and again?

When will the tenets of sustainable agriculture become mainstreamed? Or will it be too late by then?

There are already demonstrated successful methods to prevent soil problems such as acidity and salinity. But our scientists refuse to do collaborative works with the grass roots organisations involved. Science has become a fundamentalist stumbling block to progress in reversing soil degradation.

In the next issue of Geomantica there will be a major article on the subject of grassroots solutions to farm land degradation. It has been 3 years in the pipeline and has involved travel from one end of the country to the other. And dowsing comes into it!

In the meantime buy a copy of my film on the subject - 'Grassroots Soil Salinity Solutions' - see the relevant news item about this in the News section here.

Electromagnetic Radiation News

Extracts from EMR Focus July-Sept. 2004 publication of EMR Australia Pty. Ltd.

www.emraustralia.com.au . email office@emraustrlia.com.au Ph. 02 9501 2665

"The brain tumour link renowned surgeon speaks out.
Dr. Charles Teo, one of Australia's leading brain tumour surgeons, has spoken publicly about the link he has observed between mobile phone use and brain tumours.
'Tumours are increasing in the area of the head where mobile phones are held. It is now undisputed in that brain tumours are increasing in frequency in both children and adults and this increase is true for both developed and developing countries you'd have to be crazy to ignore the connection children should definitely not use mobile phones'.
If using a mobile phone, Dr. Teo advises, 'only use the phone on loudspeaker' and hold it at a distance. If using an ear-phone, Dr. Teo suggests using a non-conductive device."

"Drs. Orjan Halberg and Olle Johansson from Sweden have investigated the relationship of malignant melanoma with FM and TV broadcasting. The researchers state 'Our hypothesis is simply that full body resonance effects, which easily occur in the 100 MHz frequency range, cause electric currents to pass through the body, sometimes for prolonged periods, eg during sleep at night. These currents may interfere with cell repair mechanisms that normally are supposed to clean up the body and repair damaged cells'."

"Korean research by S. Park and team has found a link between radiofrequency exposure and cancer. The researchers calculated the incidence of cancer mortality between 1994 and 1995 in RF-exposed areas (areas that had an AM broadcast tower emitting over 100kW) and low RF-exposure control areas. They found that exposed areas had a higher rate of cancer and leukemia deaths, especially leukemia deaths among people aged under 30 years."

"A study in Finland investigated the effects of mobile phone radiation on the expression of proteins in a human endothelial cell. R. Nylund and D Leszczynski found that mobile phone radiation resulted in changes to the expression of up to 38 proteins, some of which were associated with the cytoskeleton."

Electrical Sensitivity.
"Dr. Cyril Smith has found from years of work with patients, related to the frequency of exposure, In specially-shielded conditions, Dr. Smith exposed patients to a range of frequencies that he generated using an oscillator. He found that, for each patient, a specific frequency (or frequencies) turned off the symptoms, effectively neutralising the reaction. Patients given a homeopathic preparation with the neutralising frequency have reported great benefits. Dr. Smith recommends three procedures for dealing with electrical sensitivity.
1. Remove chemicals from the body, as chemicals have a synergistic effect with EMR.
2. Reduce exposure to EMR.
3. Find the neutralising frequency."

"EMF and Iron. Dr Henry Lai.
Recent research has shown that EMR from both the electrical system and telecommunications sources can, under certain conditions, lead to DNA damage in cells. This genetic damage could ultimately lead to cancer. Cell mitochondria produce hydrogen peroxide. When iron is present in the cell, electromagnetic fields act on the hydrogen peroxide (possibly by the Fenton reaction) to produce the hydroxy radical. This is a potent free radical that is known to cause damage in molecules such as proteins, lipids and DNA."

Paradise not a done deal

(or Not over till the Coxen fig parrot sings)

Paradise dam is being built despite the fact that many indigenous people voiced their misgivings about the destruction of sacred sites on Murubakgira, source & increase sites and the crossing place of the songline to the Bunya lands - they accepted monetary compensation however, and now the river and all it's primeval species is in BIG trouble.

Please let indigenous owners of Murubakgira (and all lovers of the unique Goodnight Scrub National Park) know that the dam currently being constructed at Paradise is not a "done deal", as lawyers told them before the government compulsorily extinguished their Native Title Rights to mighty Murubakgira, the heartland of their country, and the increase & source sites of lungfish & turtles & crossing place of a major migratory trail, which will all be inundated. This environmental vandalism of the highest degree, unprecedented in Australia's history, will continue to be vehemently opposed - even if it is completed, world authorities & scientists will demand it be immediately decommissioned. After the election there will be a call for a temporary halt to construction work, while a team of Australian and world experts (who didn't get the opportunity to scrutinize & comment on this massive threat to iconic Australian native species while it was being proposed because they were unaware of it), assess the situation on site and review the huge body of evidence that supports the claim that this dam, unlike others, will have absolutely devastating consequences for multiple native species already on the brink of extinction and for the wilderness values of the primeval National Park, unique in the world, which will be gutted.

Since the dam was approved, there has been a listing as endangered of an affected native species, a court ruling requiring the Federal Environment Minister to consider downstream impacts of dams (unbelievably not required before!), many more reports made, and outrage & condemnation expressed from all over the world - and then there are the 'cabinet documents', hidden straight away by Peter Beattie, that prove the dam was not necessary and would be an environmental and economic catastrophe, which will have to be released so the group can make their assessment and report back to the Federal Government. If the dam is as environmentally and economically sound as Burnett Water maintains, then they will have nothing to fear from further scrutiny.

Seven Sisters Dreaming and the Wild Dogs Dreaming Aboriginal heritage sites.

In South Australia's Yorke Peninsula, the Aboriginal Affairs Minister, Terry Roberts has given permission to Meridian Energy build 50 wind turbines at Wattle Point estimated to cost $180 million.

The area contains three Aboriginal heritage sites. These registered sites are the traditional lands and dreaming sites of the Point Pierce Aboriginal community. It is believed that these sites are about 40,000 years old. All Aboriginal sites within the wind farm area were not fully assessed before the earth movers started working.

"The ground still has our dreaming and our spirit in it," says Mr Agius, a descendant of the local Narungga tribe.

"Once they start scraping clean the land of its formations, then it makes it hard for us to argue native title land rights."

Mr Agius says that Aboriginal people across the nation will suffer, with the wind farm site joined to the Seven Sisters Dreaming and the Wild Dogs Dreaming - spiritual stories that connect all Aborigines. "This whole thing has been a stuff-up from the start. There has been a lack of communication and a lack of respect shown for Aboriginal culture."

"At the end of the day, we have no control over anything that's going on and all our cultural landscapes will be lost."

"This whole thing has been a stuff-up from the start. There has been a lack of communication and a lack of respect shown for Aboriginal culture."

"How do I feel about getting paid to watch these developers destroy our cultural landscape in front of my eyes?" he says. "I feel wild, upset, pissed off."

EARTH RADIATION - another perspective

By Susan Wilson

Firstly, what is radiation? "The Macquarie Concise Dictionary" says "Radiation - Physics, the emission and propagation of particles or waves such as by a radioactive substance, a source of electromagnetic waves, or a source of sound waves." It seems that earth radiation can come from many sources and does come from the Earth, herself, as she is a living being. Let's investigate some of these sources.

Earth and her inhabitants are exposed to the energies of the seven rays which flow through star systems and planets. This means that cosmic rays beam down on us affecting our life. Also we have eight earth energy fields which also impact on everything. Let us look at the energies that we have a personal opportunity to change for the better some of earth's radiating forces.

Each and every one of us is different. We all have an individual 'bar code' just like the one used in shops to differentiate between products. Our 'bar code' is a vibrational frequency which allows us to operate uniquely by responding or reacting to situations depending on the energetics of our 'bar code'.

Different areas on the earth have their own 'bar codes' too. This is the energetic vibration of an area. Each area is composed of energy fields that help to create these differences. If we study an area we may find that it has male or female aspects or both, it may have different natural soil or rock stratums and the landscape can be flat or hilly. These are all representative of the energetic flux of energy fields. Then there are grids and other influences too numerous to mention. As you can imagine there are no two areas which are identical, just like humans.

Other than the natural features of the land another increasing impact on land is technological devices. These devices all have their own frequencies which are manufactured by humans without due regard to natures laws. These devices are often embedded into the land and reach into the sky and so become antenna which distribute energetic currents in all directions, without nature's 'permission'. This I call 'manipulation' and humans have man-ipulated their environment not really understanding what they have done. Now we are learning to undo what we have done to the environment or otherwise we will have to learn to live with our experiments.

The other factor to be aware of is that whatever man can make or do with any technological device we can actually do now, or will do in the future, when we are fully operational humans. That is when we have all our DNA strands working correctly. At the moment we are operating mainly with only one double strand. This is a fraction of our potential.

Another major reason for interference in the natural landscape is humanity's unawareness of how powerful we actually are. We have thoughts (which we think are ours) but which are picked up off the 'net' of human thoughtforms as it is projected into space. Most of the time these thoughts are not of love but are steeped in fear. We are all 'computers' linked into the Earth's 'Internet' and on line all day and night. If only we realised how easily we can become affected by thought viruses!

Another example is the news--usually negative--feeding humanity's fear of death. If we saw death as transmutation or rebirth into a different form we would honour those who sacrificed their earthly life. Every cause of death is personal and needs to be honoured. When we grieve we are feeling our own sense of loss, Maybe we are feeling the sense of despair of not living to our full expression?

At death the magnetic field of our mind and its attendant fear remains on earth. A good example of this is can be felt by sensitive people at massacre sites. These fears gather together with humanity's fear-based thoughtforms and rise to form a dark 'cloud' surrounding Earth. Humans are the only species who use their minds to project fear. The dark cloud that is wrapped around the Earth is of our own making.

Another example is the 'disease' Foot and Mouth suffered by animals. These animals pick up the sound of fear trapped in the earth. This fear is the accumulated death experiences of thousands of humans slaughtered by wars. They included many innocent landholders and their families. The magnetic fields of these people are energetically trapped until the animals come along pick up the sound and transmute the fear through their bodies. The lesions are the result of old thoughtforms being released through the animal's bodies.

One of the carriers of information in the earth is water just like blood is one of the carriers of nutrients or messages through our body. Water in the earth collects energetic information as it travels on or in the ground or in the air. It can 'hear' the call of the cockatoo, it 'hears' a gasp of delight at its beauty as it flows down a babbling brook. What water 'hears' is converted from sound into information (light). When water hears harmonic sound it will increase its energetic vibration. When it 'hears' disharmony then the water becomes darker or dirty.

We see a gnarled tree indicating that it is growing in an area with conflicting forces. It literally does not know which way to turn! But we often do not realise that when we feel gnarled, twisted, contorted and ill at ease that it may be because of the ill-at-ease in our own fluid system. We are often in co-dependent relationship with the energy represented in geopathic stress. When we deal with our own emotional, mental and belief issues we can lose the attraction we have to geopathic zones..

Most humans, I find, have little understanding of the huge opportunity we have to heal ourselves and our families and thereby help to have a more peaceful world. In my experience it is those who have sensitivity to energy who are challenged to deal with their emotional and mental issues and beliefs. These people have the ability to find peace within self and will help clear the 'cloud' of fear that hangs over and around the Earth.

When we take the opportunity to understand and heal our hidden emotional and mental patterns and beliefs we become a shining beacon of light which has the potential to radiate peace and goodwill to family, friends and humanity as a whole. The presence of earth radiation in our place of living or work can give us an opportunity to develop our understanding of the purpose of our life on Earth.

Dreaming the Dance - Part Two

Meditation.

Meditation has always been practiced by the "First Nations" European people, it is an integral part of all their rituals. The meditative state cannot be reached until repressed anxieties are released. In all natural human societies people express anxieties; they don't repress them.

The immediate expression of anxiety is not acceptable in Western culture today so the hardest part of learning to meditate is starting. When I began meditating distracting thoughts flooded my mind, I couldn't ignore them because they were the anxieties of my waking life.

I needed to address them so I got a meditation Diary-a school exercise book costs cents. For the first meditations I was advised to stay awake enough to write the distractions down in my diary as they flowed through my mind.

"Through my mind" is the key, literally in one ear and out the other! As long as I write them down as they pass through I can honestly tell myself I am addressing the problems.

With the disturbing thoughts recorded I am in a position to address their issues. Even on the first
attempt the flow of thoughts slowed and I began to relax

Another exercise recommended to me when I began meditating is to follow my anxieties back to their
source. "Don't just think about it, meditate on it, record it in your diary, go right back as far
as you can, ask friends and relatives for their recollections".

"Work back through your life at the rate of one year of your life per day. Your problems now
were caused by 'this' last year and they were caused by 'that' the year before and so on".

"Most people can go back to age two or three, some can go back to before their first birthday. Not
to mention past life regression!"

"So now you know! Its time to turn around and come back."

"All that you know about yourself at 'year dot' enabled you to achieve 'this' the next year, which
supported you in achieving 'that' the year after and so on until to the present day."

What I achieved by this is to progressively disempower all the negative influences in my life
and to successively empower all the positive influences in my life. "OK, so who am I really?"

"You've recorded the major issues in your life; you are now in a position to change things for the
better. Have the courage to change what you can with the wisdom to accept what you can't. Some paths in life are mutually exclusive, it's one or the other and did you really have a choice?"

"Yes! If, metaphorically speaking, you look up and you're in front of a speeding train, why stop the
train when you can step off the track? For any given circumstance you can be standing in the right place
or the wrong place, the choice is yours."

After some time I'd made changes in my life that resolved many of those issues, but I then found those
issues had been replaced with new disturbing thoughts. The deeper I delved into that inner pit of repressed
anxieties the more relaxed I became in my waking life.

It took a couple of months of regular practice but I found that after 10 or 15 minutes of meditation I
ran out of disturbing thoughts and got my first taste of inner peace. Total physical and mental relaxation!

The meditation countback technique is the one most used by beginners, professionally recorded CDs and
computer CD roms are available from "New Age" bookstores. Some recordings are good and others are
incredibly bad, some are purely for entertainment and some are for "therapy", if you need therapy take it
up with a doctor or priest(ess), not a bookstore!

These are some of the teachings on meditation as I received them. "Somewhere safe to meditate is the
first goal, is it cool to meditate publicly in the city's central park only to find half way through you
get "rolled" for your watch and sneakers! Peace and quiet soon becomes the most precious commodity on
earth."

"What about high on a mountain top, deep in a National Park; mozzies can spot a student of
meditation a mile away (that's a lot more than a kilometre!). It soon becomes apparent why the
hermits of old preferred caves or purpose built hermitages."

"Good, safe, quiet meditation sites are at a premium, good hunting and when you find one tell
nobody. The only word of advice I can give you is don't use your bedroom, its association with
meditation will eventually disturb your sleep."

"Prepare for meditation by doing some moderate exercise to work out any tension in the muscles,
a brisk half hour walk is adequate, you could also loosen up your joints with a brief yoga routine,
then relax. Take slow deep breaths, see the anxiety stored in your muscles flow out of the body on the
out breath and replaced by life force on the in breath."

"Your body instructs your mind to co-ordinate its movements and speech; it controls the mind. The
mind also controls itself so if you imagine the anxiety flowing out of the body with the out breath
that's exactly what the body sees in 'it's' mind, and believes it!"

"A gentle massage of the joints of the body will greatly aid relaxation. The nerve that originates in a
joint also serves the muscles that control that joint. By relaxing the joint you also relax all the muscle
groups that control the joint."

"Ensure that you are comfortable either laying on a yoga mat, seated on a cushion or in a chair, are
not excessively hungry or over-full and have recently emptied your bladder and bowels. Continue the deep breathing, if you're new to meditation record the anxieties as they flow through your mind, if not then you already know them well enough so just let them flow."

"The count-down given here is a structured and an easily memorized system of progressive relaxation in
7 steps, each of at least 30 seconds-take longer if you need to. Soothing music helps enormously and
masks distracting noises. Word of mouth is the best recommendation and try before you buy.

1 ....right foot, calf, thigh and buttock.

2 ....left foot, calf, thigh and buttock.

3 ....genitals, abdominal muscles and lower back.

4 ....right hand, forearm, upper arm and shoulder.

5 ....left hand, forearm, upper arm and shoulder.

6 ....diaphragm, ribs, upper back and neck.

7 ....jaw, face, scalp and the rational mind;.....

now, open your inner eye. Just let it open, what you can imagine in your mind is what you see with your
eyes closed, just let your inner eye see anything, whatever is there. Don't try to understand it."

" When its time to return simply reverse the procedure, while meditating your consciousness loses
contact with the body to some extent. Feel your consciousness re-inhabit your body, the face and head
first, then the chest, arms, abdomen and legs."

"You can do it the easy way and just roll over and go to sleep and you will awaken in the physical
world. To use meditation in conjunction with the lucid dreaming technique described in pt. 3 of this
series then go through the 7 steps above in reverse order, if this process gets sloppy it won't work
with dreaming."

"The fun starts once your consciousness leaves your body, if you're going to see anything that frightens you it will be here on the material world, that is everything below the Moon. Friendly spirits also inhabit the material world but they are not bound to it. Next is the firmament and above that is the spiritual world where most of the action takes place."

"You are now in a state of deep relaxation. To venture further you can rise up the ladder of
planets. From the material world the order of the planets in the firmament is; 1....the Moon,
2....Mercury, 3....Venus, 4....the Sun, 5....Mars, 6....Jupiter and 7....Saturn. The outer planet are
respectively the higher octaves of Mercury, Venus, Mars etc., they can only be perceived through a
skrying crystal (telescope)!"

"Beyond the planets are the constellations, this is the lower spiritual world. Don't get the
impression that there is any clear demarcation between any of the worlds, it is one continuum
which includes the physical world. The names relate more to what man can experience there."

"To work with matters that are ruled by a planet you need only travel in the firmament as far
as that planet." This scenario conforms exactly to the ancient Celtic world structure as described
in the "Vita Merlini", which was translated by Bob Stewart and published as "The Mystic Life of Merlyn".

"There is an ancient European tradition that says that the Sun and Moon are doorways. The Moon
is the doorway from the Physical world to the Underworld and the Sun is the doorway from the
Physical world to the Heavens."

I started out working within an eclectic group of "New Agers" which had many advantages. Most importantly I had access to a network of like-minded people and they knew what worked so it also meant that I wasn't tied to any one school of thought. "This was in the 60s, before the "New Age" was taken over by drug dealers!"

Meditative practice usually starts with someone reading a script to bring about physical and mental
relaxation. The next stage was the reading of scripted journeys which include searching for gifts
or the retrieval of information from a book. It's a form of divining.

The conversations with others during meditation are interesting, don't think about it, just listen.
Some are other meditators, some are dreamers, some are spirits, others are your ancestors. "Your
ancestors are innate within you," I was told, "they have a vested interest in your safety."

It pays to give your ancestors a right of veto over your guides. An ancestor might even take on the
job of training you, that's the traditional path of the shaman.

"Ask one of your Otherworld 'friends' to act as guide while you start out writing and memorizing your
own scripts", was one bit of advice. "A competent and trustworthy guide won't work with you on drugs and many, not even legal drugs like alcohol", was another.

It takes all types to make a world, involvement in some groups might expose you to sexual, emotional or
psychological abuse. Do the names Charles Manson, Jim Jones or David Coresh ring a bell?

What do you think happened to these people? Try meditating while on drugs and you'll know! That's
exactly what some spirits want, the drugs affect them too! Don't you join them?

When you reach this stage you will be taking meditation seriously, it is now a self rewarding
activity. Perhaps too seriously, remember these words; "get a life!"

Why you want to learn to meditate is important, is the meditation a therapy or a foundation subject in a
larger course of study. Many universities teach meditation as part of formal studies.

The group leader will influence your perspective on meditation, a diviner will orient you towards
divining, a healer to healing and an abuser towards abusing. A group leader is a position of responsibility,
not authority, and definitely not power!

The health benefits of meditation are many and no religious tradition or school of medicine condemns it.
The stress reduction it brings demonstrably assists the healing of body, mind and spirit. When combined
with a healthy diet, moderate exercise and a craft to express your creativity it becomes the corner stone
for a fulfilling life.

The Visiona and Legacy of Geoffrey Hodson

Hodson was a world renowned clairvoyant who tirelessly lectured for the Theosophical Society all around the world and was involved with other movements, such as vegetarianism and kindness to animals. He spent his last few decades in New Zealand, working to bring his amazing insights to the world and publishing a whole library of books. He died, with full consciousness, at the age of 96, back in 1982 in Auckland, and left a rich legacy behind him.

He is probably best known for his interest in describing and communicating with the little nature spirits and massive devic beings that he encountered in his travels. His book Clairvoyant Investigations describes the beings he observed in New Zealand. Now you can see it online, thanks to the Theosophical Society of NZ. Feast your eyes!

The following hyperlinks to the world wide web will allow the interested reader to gain some visual insights into the illustrations of Nature Spirits and Angels which were painted by artists according to Mr. Hodson's detailed instructions, however - as Mr. Hodson himself intimated - no matter how gifted the artist, attempts to portray multi-dimensional beings of living fire in two dimensions are bound to fall short:

Earth Spirits (Nature Spirits and Angels) from The Kingdom of the Gods:

Archangels & Angels from Clairvoyant Investigations (items 1-17):

Geoffrey Hodson saw the parallel universe of the Angelic Kingdom as assisting evolution on the form level and on consciousness levels. As messengers and helpers of the Creators Plan the Angelic Kingdom serve evolution on their level of consciousness. If humans desire to serve the Divine Plan they may be given assistance from the Angelic Kingdom but this is not their only purpose. The Angelic realm are also responsible for the transformation at death by disconnecting the silver cord from the body and facilitating a peaceful passing over into spirit form.

He wrote about man's journeys around the globe, over mountains, under the sea, into the jungles and desert wastes in search of power and wealth. But he realised that it was the search within that really mattered if man was to find what he was really searching for.

Geoffrey Hodson wrote about the need for man to appreciate and work with Nature in an intimate way. Nature is our teacher and her beauty is a reflection of the Divine from which all life expression comes. The Angelic Kingdom is always present, if only our human minds would be open to their communications, feel their presence and ask for their help to facilitate finding the happiness that is our birthright.

The book "Clairvoyant Investigations" by Geoffrey Hodson, is now freely available on-line, (see above link) and contains some amazing pictures of devas with plenty of information on the Angelic realm and its connection to sound. This book deals with the effect of music on nature spirits and devas. For those interested in how different music can changes energies it is highly recommended.

An Earth Rite

©Solace

Lately, much of my time and effort has been going into the garden and creating a special place of peace, rest, tranquility and magick. In order to help my garden along the path, I have designed a special rite
which will help to create a stronger current of earth energy flowing through the garden.

The first, and center part of the rite, is to find a semi-large stone, which will be placed somewhere in the center of the garden (although it is not necessary for it to be in the center this is where I feel best about putting it). There is no right or wrong type of stone to use in this, just whatever you feel good about. As with most other things, they are largely just symbolic anyway, the magick is created within yourself.

Secondly, you need smaller stones, which will be placed around and within the boundary of your garden. I would recommend using around six to ten of them but the number, like everything else is up to you. I'll also note here, that the purpose of using these smaller stones is NOT to create a circle around the garden. They don't have to be placed in any particular pattern, just as long as they are kept in places that you would like to see grow.

If you are fond of using runes, then you may like to draw runes on the stones. Use them depending on the traits which you would like to bring into your garden. If you do this, then draw one rune on each of the smaller stones. On the center stone carve in each of the runes that have been used on the smaller stones. It works just as well here to draw in words. So long as the meaning is there, it is irrelevant how you do it.

Now that everything has been set up, I will come to the rite itself. Personally, I am someone who likes to keep things simple and natural. I don't feel a great need to get carried away with the use of tools and so, although you could include things in this rite such as candles or incense. I will not include it here.

As an overview of what we are doing here, the idea is to create a flow of deep earth energies through the garden to stimulate life, love and healing within. The center stone will become a channel for these energies, and with the help of the smaller stones, will distribute these energies throughout the garden. Remember, before attempting this rite, be sure to consult with your own guides and teachers. What is right for one is not always right for all.

The Rite
Prepare yourself for this in your normal manner. I always like to do deep breathing exercises and meditate before I perform a rite, to help me balance my own energies, and generally make me feel good. Concentration and creative visualization are also an important part to this rite, and therefore meditation is an especially good idea. For this rite, it is important also that you are feeling very close to the earth around you. Perhaps take a little time to simply walk around the garden. Lie in the grass. This in itself brings life and power to the place.

Once you feel ready, it is time to go to the center stone. Sit by the stone. Touch it, run your hands over the runes. Every thing on this planet has a life force, a vibration - even a simple stone. Don't ignore it.
Tap into it. Sense it. It is about to become a channel of earth power.

Sit on the ground next to the stone. Now close your eyes. Place both of your hands on the stone, or a few inches away from it. Imagine your energy flowing into the stone. See the flow of energy between yourself and the center stone becoming stronger and stronger. Now, see that roots of pure energy are seeping out from the bottom of the stone. Growing in their hundreds, and reaching deep down into the center of
the earth. Now visualize the earth energies being absorbed by the roots. Flowing upwards towards the stone and as they do so becoming stronger and stronger, brighter and brighter. These energies are emerald and amethyst in colour. Now see them forming around the stone, growing more and more dense.
Feel the warmth that radiates from them. When you feel that this link between the center stone and the deep earth has been established it is time for you to build the link between the center stone and the receiver stones.

While still next to the center stone, think of all the separate receiver stones that you have placed around the garden. Now, one by one, imagine these dense energies from the center stone flowing towards the smaller stones. See them all glowing, emerald and amethyst with these energies. See the arms of energy reaching from the center stone to the receivers. Now, walk to the first receiver stone. See it, glowing with the energy which is flowing to it. Now, place your hand on the stone (left hand if your are right handed, right hand if your are left handed) and see the energy from this stone dispersing back into the ground and spreading throughout that section of the garden. See those energies being sucked back up by the earth
and feel the life and energy they give.

Do this with each of the other receiver stones. Now, sit by the center stone again. Feel the flowing cycle of energy, and visualize it as it feeds the garden with life. Now state the following aloud or in your mind:
Through the deepest, and most powerful earth energies of life You will stand as a pillar of strength, life and love in this garden May you keep the life flow alive And help to heal our sacred earth So be it.

The rite is now finished. You should feel a very strong flow of energy in your garden now. If you feel it weakens, you can always repeat the rite, or simply sit by the center stone, and help to make the flow stronger. In today's world, scarred by mans wrongful attitude towards the earth, I believe that such rites are important. The Nature Mages believe that with the creation of their Groves, they in turn help the rest of nature to grow and recover - the earth to heal. This is what I hope to accomplish. When mankind covers the earth with concrete, when we dig large holes in her body and fill her with our non-biodegradable rubbish, then it is up to the few of us who realize what we are desecrating to try and help.

Every tree that we grow does make a difference.

I wish you all well with this.

Blessings,
Solace.

Book Review

The Seven Sisters of the Pleiades: stories from around the world.
By Munya Andrews, Spinifex Press, Aug. 2004.

A faint cluster of stars far, far away has intrigued humankind for millennia and inspired a multitude of myths. Surprisingly, we find, in this book, a great many of them have very similar themes most commonly that of seven sisters, who are often chased across the sky by rapacious sky gods, such as Orion. From Aboriginal Australian traditions over to Greece - humankind has intuited certain qualities, such as sweetness, to these stars.

Munya Andrews should know, as she was introduced to the subject by her Bardi Aboriginal grandmother when growing up in the Kimberley region of north west Australia. Of Aboriginal, Scottish and Indian descent, she is a lawyer, academic and actor with a great fascination for comparative religion.
According to astronomers our own sun was generated in the same dust cloud / star womb as that of the Pleiades. Andrew's grandma told her that the Pleiades are "our relations".

The Seven Sisters Dreaming is fundamental to many Aboriginal cultures all around Australia and was behind some of the 'Secret Women's Business' of the Hindmarsh Island debacle, as well as threatened sites in the Yorke Peninsula, in this issue of Geomantica.

Andrews places much credence in the writings of Madame Blavatsky in relation to the metaphysical role of the Pleiades, as she leads us through an intriguing maze of material, drawing together incredible facets of human history that show the commonality of global myths and legends.

There may be over 3000 stars in the Pleiades and more than seven stars may be visible by the naked eye there, but they are usually considered as just seven. Andrews explains the esoteric significance of the number seven.

Did you know that the Subaru car's emblem represents the Pleiades? (Suburu is the Japanese name for them).

Book Review

Divining Earth Spirit - an exploration of global and Australasian geomancy

by Alanna Moore

Information leads to understanding and Alanna's new book, Divining Earth Spirit contains a wealth of information. Divided into six parts this book is subtitled-an exploration of global and Australian geomancy. As a professional geomancer and journalist for twenty years Alanna has the expertise to write on this subject resulting in this excellent resource book.

The first part of Diving Earth Energies opens up the treasure chest of discovering earth energies. The book begins with an overview of geomancy and earth energy grids and moves to investigating earth energies throughout the northern hemisphere including different cultural expressions of earth energies, for example, feng shui. There is a chapter on crop circles which are confounding the scientific community.

Geomancy in Australia and New Zealand brings the focus back to Aboriginal and Maori stories and personal anecdotes of energetic land energies. The story of Hindmarsh Island in South Australia is an illustration of how sacred energies can be disturbed by those who have little understanding of them. Dowsing of Aboriginal sites is another interesting feature along with many stories of geomancy experiences in New Zealand.

Geopathic stress is affecting our health. How does electromagnetic radiation affect us? Alanna uncovers some of the hazards to be aware of living in a technological age.

In "Meet the Devas" the subject of devas is examined from a cultural and historical perspective. Also covered is dowsing for nature spirit energies. Personal stories of encounters with devas and the demystifying of 'Pan' are included. This is another informative part of the book which gives us details of natural energies, often hidden from view by our physical senses, in the landscape.

Several geomancers divulge their secrets and talk about their broad range of experiences in part five.

Stories of the work, actually happening in the world, which is helping heal the disturbance of Earth energies completes this excellent book.

I can highly recommend Divining Earth Spirit as a valuable resource when investigating earth energies. This easy book to read is full of interesting stories, geomancy information from around the world and practical ideas to explore our own area energetically. I've been searching for this type of book for years, and now I've found a great resource to better understand earth energies, thank you, Alanna.
